Alibaba Cloud selects Theta EdgeCloud as its decentralized AI distribution platform to bring Qwen AI models to Web3-native developers worldwide.
Alibaba Cloud is partnering with Theta Labs to bring Qwen AI models and related AI services to Theta EdgeCloud, giving Web3 developers and communities around the world direct access to them.
The integration includes Alibaba Cloud's latest models, such as Qwen3.8-Max and Qwen3.8-Flash, which are now available through Theta EdgeCloud. This is one of the first times a major global cloud provider has offered its frontier AI models on a decentralized GPU compute network.

Through this collaboration, Theta EdgeCloud and Alibaba Cloud will work together to make more models and services available over time through Theta's hybrid cloud-edge infrastructure. The initiative is designed to support not only developers building AI-powered applications, but also communities exploring new ways to engage with AI experiences across the evolving Web3 ecosystem.
Partnering with Alibaba Cloud to bring Qwen AI models to Theta EdgeCloud is a milestone for our ecosystem. It demonstrates that decentralized edge infrastructure is ready to serve as a distribution layer for enterprise-grade AI and that the world's leading cloud providers see the value in what we've built.
Developers are building across centralized and decentralized environments alike, and they expect access to the best models regardless of where they build. Our collaboration with Theta EdgeCloud ensures that Qwen AI models meet developers in the Web3 ecosystem on their terms.

Why This Matters
Qwen, Alibaba Cloud's latest generation of large language models, has rapidly emerged as one of the most capable open-source model families available today. With strong multilingual support, competitive benchmark performance, and a full spectrum of model sizes, Qwen has become a go-to choice for developers building AI-powered applications across the globe.
So far, most developers have accessed Qwen through centralized cloud platforms. With this partnership, they can also run Qwen models on Theta EdgeCloud's decentralized GPU infrastructure, which gives Web3 builders more flexibility, lower costs, and more control over how and where their workloads run.

What This Means for the Theta Ecosystem
For Theta EdgeCloud
The partnership shows that its hybrid architecture can meet the standards of a top-tier cloud provider while keeping the benefits of a decentralized network.
For developers
Direct access to one of the most capable model families available, on infrastructure built for Web3 that scales with demand and doesn't depend on a single provider.
For the Theta community
A clear sign that major industry players see decentralized edge computing as a real distribution channel for enterprise AI.
For Alibaba Cloud
A new way to reach the growing number of Web3 developers and organizations building decentralized applications.
Looking Ahead
AI and decentralized infrastructure are already coming together in production. With this partnership, Alibaba Cloud and Theta Network are making advanced AI models available to more developers in more places, on infrastructure that is open and distributed. Over the coming months, the two teams plan to bring more Qwen models and AI services to Theta EdgeCloud.
