We are thrilled to announce that Theta Name Service, built by Theta community’s own Thetaboard.io, is now supported in the Theta Web Wallet! After a long journey Theta Name Service is ready to support Theta’s drive toward global adoption!
What is Theta Name Service ?
Theta Name Service (TNS) introduces a whole new way to personalize your Theta experience. It is a custom, 100% Theta blockchain-based naming system for your wallet.
For those new to crypto, TNS is a much easier way to communicate your wallet’s 42-character-long code for any interaction using human-readable wallet names. And if you’re a veteran Theta community member who has an extensive collection of NFTs, stakes on EEN and GN, and transfers THETA and TFUEL on a daily basis, it is a great help in organizing and identifying your multiple wallets.
With TNS, you create any name you want for your wallet. The top level domain “.theta” will complete it.
Example:
Instead of using:
0xc0ffee254729296a45a3885639AC7E10F9d54979
you can now use:
my-name.theta
Once assigned, you can use it throughout the entire Theta ecosystem.
In the Theta Wallet:
In the Theta Explorer:
And in third party websites integrating TNS (screenshot from Thetaboard.io):
NOTE: You will need to go to your Theta Wallet settings and enable TNS before using, as shown in the image below:

If you already heard about TNS, you know it’s been around for some time, starting from a fun proof-of-concept to becoming a reliable and secure way of transferring valuable tokens on Theta blockchain. In order to comply with our requirements in terms of security for the community, industry-leading smart contract auditor CertiK completed comprehensive audits of TNS.
Through this meticulous process, the Thetaboard team released a new and secure version of the contracts which addressed potential vulnerabilities, providing a robust and secure foundation for everyone to use TNS.
Now that TNS is audited and complies with Theta’s security framework, we worked together to seamlessly integrate TNS with the official Theta Wallet, and it is already available now at wallet.thetatoken.org!
With your TNS assigned, you can send and receive Theta, TFUEL, and any TNT20 token built on Theta blockchain, using your personalized name.
You can also easily identify both ends of any transaction list (Provided that all parties acquired a TNS), making reviewing or identifying your Theta transactions much easier.
How can I get my unique TNS name?
Ready to adopt your own TNS? Secure your unique name now by visiting Thetaboard.io or by using the Theta Name Service DApp on the Theta Mobile Wallet App (iOS and Android).
TNS are fully utility-focused Theta community NFTs, but not the average collectible. They truly allow unlocking a new usage. This means that the name you create will be unique and you will be the only owner of this name on the Theta blockchain. It is an opportunity to redefine your Theta experience and be more than a number on the blockchain.
It’s a huge jump in user convenience, but also a chance to shape the future of Theta blockchain by making it more attractive to use with legible and understandable addresses.
What if I already have a TNS?
Please note! If you had a TNS before the end of 2023 it will not be functional.
But the Thetaboard team has you covered.
The previous TNS had to become obsolete once the new secured version was deployed.
If you already owned a TNS, Thetaboard already sent you its replacement to your wallet. You can easily distinguish the old obsolete version from the new functional and secure one from the picture of the NFT. The “off” one is the obsolete one and the “on” one is the functional one.
Any old TNS was automatically unassigned, so you will simply need to assign the new one to your wallet and you will be ready to go!

If you are a developer or a website owner within our ecosystem, we encourage you to take a look at the tns-resolver NPM package developed by Thetaboard and integrate with TNS to support the community and make your website more convenient for Theta users.
