Theta Labs and XYO Launch Independent Verification Layer for AI Agents on EdgeCloud

XYO's cryptographic Proof of Origin technology will independently verify the infrastructure behind Theta's live AI agent deployments for the Houston Rockets, Olympique de Marseille and other sports and entertainment organizations.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA - May 28, 2026 - Theta Labs, developer of the hybrid cloud-edge AI infrastructure platform Theta EdgeCloud, today announced a collaboration with XYO, a decentralized network for real-world data verification, to build an independent verification layer for the AI agents running in production on EdgeCloud.

Theta's AI agent platform already powers customer service and fan engagement deployments for organizations including the Houston Rockets and Olympique de Marseille, alongside partners across the NBA, NHL, MLS and Ligue 1, handling thousands of fan interactions. Under the collaboration, XYO's decentralized data verification network will integrate performance attestations directly into these live deployments.

Why AI Agents Need Independent Verification

AI agents are increasingly initiating tasks, consuming services and coordinating with other systems without a human reviewing every step. Research from Stanford's AI Index found that organizational AI adoption reached 88% in 2025, with 23% of those companies now actively scaling agentic systems. As agents take on more consequential decisions, an unverified infrastructure failure can go undetected, creating operational and financial exposure for the businesses relying on them.

Decentralized compute networks have historically competed on price and availability. What's been missing is independent proof that the infrastructure is actually performing as advertised, since a cloud provider reporting on its own uptime and latency is not the same as a third party confirming it.

How the Verification Layer Works

XYO nodes will independently monitor Theta EdgeCloud's infrastructure by measuring quality-of-service metrics, including uptime, latency and throughput, for AI agent workloads. Those measurements are recorded as cryptographically backed attestations on XYO Layer One and its Data Lakes infrastructure, producing an external, tamper-evident audit trail that enterprise customers, compliance teams and procurement leads can check independently rather than taking a provider's word for it.

XYO co-founder Markus Levin has framed the need in similar terms: enterprises don't run production infrastructure on good faith alone. They need auditable records and a clear chain of accountability behind the systems they depend on, particularly as agentic AI deployments move from pilot to production.

What's Next

Theta and XYO will roll out the attestation layer across EdgeCloud's existing AI agent deployments before expanding coverage to additional workload types on the platform. Both teams expect to share integration milestones and early performance data as the first attestations go live.
